We are looking for an experienced Senior Content Designer to join the Website and Communications team as we embark on major projects to launch the new University web publishing platform and services.

We have now transitioned to a full home working environment across all of our teams, responding to the UK government’s and University of Edinburgh’s guidance. Even though team members have been working from home on occasions, doing it in this scale is unprecedented. I would like to share what was involved, how we prepared and […]

About the Future Web Services design research project       Over the last two months, we have carried out 16 pop-ups and co-design workshops as a University-wide series of community engagements. We are seeking to better understand your needs to inform how we can enhance web services to ensure they serve you better. These services will complement and sit alongside the current corporate CMS.

Last month we welcomed colleagues from two European universities who spent a few days finding out how we run our user experience and web publishing services. In this post, Francesca Marangoni from the University of Trento and Renata Coutinho from the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal share their experiences.

This July we were joined by colleagues from the LLC and CAHSS web teams at the 2018 IWMW conference at the University of York. In this post, we share our thoughts on the event.

If you’re familiar with higher education, you’ll know that it’s a broad and varied sector. This is no more true than in a university as large, old and research-focused as Edinburgh. And supporting our university by working in user research and experience design in Information Services right now is a challenging and interesting prospect.

We’re heading down to the University of York for the Institutional Web Management Workshop (11-13 July), and we want you to come, too. The conference is aimed at staff in UK higher education institutions responsible for websites and other digital provisions.

Before we turn our attention to the upcoming academic year, our team is taking a step back to review the most significant achievements of 2017. The main areas of focus are on web strategy and governance, continuous work to support the University web development community, EdWeb enhancements and procuring a replacement web search service.
