Digital transformation is a popular term cropping up in many organisational strategies, including our own. But what’s it all about? I attended an excellent seminar last week that prompted me to reflect on my views on the subject.

Last week I spent a couple of days in London at the Agile Content conference. I was really keen to attend, as the conference focus seemed to be the issue that constantly challenges me in my role – how do we work together to build effective, user-focused content?

I recently attended a talk by Professor Gregor Kennedy detailing his recent research into “learning analytics”, the study of interactions in digital learning environments. Professor Kennedy’s research has revealed the gap between curriculum design and real student behaviour, and the impact this has on learning.

Yesterday at our monthly Web Publishers Community meeting, a gave a presentation titled “How to get a grip of your website (and then keep hold)”. I know this because I’ve been a web manager myself, and I field enquiries and comments from time to time in this vein. I had one such email recently, and would like to share it […]

Last month a small group of colleagues from across the University attended the annual web managers conference in Newcastle. I asked everyone to answer three quick questions to give you a snapshot of what they thought of the event.

Last month Bruce and I attended the UX Scotland conference, held at the Dynamic Earth Centre here in Edinburgh. (UX is shorthand for ‘user experience’). In this post, I’m sharing a few thoughts about what I got from attending, resources you can check out for yourself and we also have a contribution from Bob Carr […]
