Join us at UX Scotland 2019

The leading user experience conference UX Scotland is once again being held in Edinburgh this June. This year I’m contributing a session.

The conference, held at Dynamic Earth, attracts a fantastic range of user research and experience design thinkers and practitioners from across the world, delivering a mix of presentations, case studies and hands-on workshops.

The range of attendees is broad, and over the years I’ve seen a growing representation from higher education. The past couple of years we’ve managed to even arrange a sector-specific get together.

We’ve been in attendance for most years, often accompanied by colleagues from across the University, and always write up our highlights.

When and where

As with previous years, it’s being held at the Dynamic Earth Centre which is a fantastic conference venue.

The conference is happening 12 – 14 June 2019.

My session

I’ll be talking about our approach to sharing results from usability testing.

Prompted by the agile development project we embarked on in 2013 to deliver the University Content Management System, EdWeb, I needed a way to quickly integrate findings from usability testing into our ongoing development process. It needed to be inclusive so everyone in the team better understood user needs, but couldn’t take up too much of anybody’s time.

This led me to trial and evolve something that has become our default approach. We now apply it in most contexts regardless of development methodology because it’s quicker, easier and promotes better stakeholder engagement.
