When working with University Human Resources Services (UHRS) to help them develop a digital strategy, we took a bespoke approach to best meet the needs of their team.

Over the past few months we have been working with University Human Resources Services (UHRS) to help them develop a digital strategy. To gain a greater understanding of the needs of those devolved HR staff, we went out to interview some of them.

We were recently involved in a project to support ESPA (Ecosystem Services for Poverty Alleviation) in creating proto-personas to inform the redevelopment of their website.

Just before leaving for my summer holidays, I had the great chance to travel to Canterbury and the University of Kent, where the annual Institutional Web Managers Workshop (IWMW for short) was hosted. This was the 21st year for the conference, which underlined the success of this long-standing networking and collaboration opportunity.

This month’s WPC session focused on top tasks management, Snapshot (a new tool to evaluate your EdWeb site) and Drupal development experiences.

This summer we worked with IS Helpline, Student Induction and Student Systems to improve our digital provision for new students.

The University of Edinburgh is in the process of carrying out a Web Estate Audit to better understand our online presence, and the project is now moving on to its next stage.

Google has introduced a new ‘home’ within Google Analytics to try to introduce insights from machine learning into the platform. This replaces the former starting report – Audience, Overview – and in this post, I’d like to offer my thoughts on what this change means for University of Edinburgh users.

This week we ran our first event to showcase the work of the pilot User Experience Service and associated areas like EdGEL and strategy development. At this session I wanted to try a different approach, encouraging dialogue about our work-in-progress, rather than one-way dissemination.
