Sharing the work of the Prospective Student Web Content Team

Category: Community of practice

Promoting events, opportunities to get involved in research, drop-in surgeries with the team etc. Should also include write ups of past activities.

During the early part of December, we ran a series of events to engage with the student recruitment and website management communities. In this post I’ve pulled together slides, video and a write up of what I said.

We’re looking for an experienced software developer who can work collaboratively across disciplines and contribute to the future of our Drupal-based CMS platform.  Could you be a good fit for our challenge and our working culture?

The new Prospective Student Web Content Team is adopting an Agile approach to delivery, using the Scrum framework. Although this represents a new way of working for many in our team, it’s already a nice fit for our mission. We’re getting on with the job at hand.

In these early stages of our new team, I’ve been introducing everyone to working within an agile framework. Scrum is new to everyone except Neil and I, but I’m finding everyone is adapting to the methodology really well. This is a quick overview of what it’s all about.

Join us in January to watch prospective postgraduate students navigating the University website to find key information, and then prioritise the biggest issues we need to fix first.

As the UX Specialist within the team, I led the guerrilla usability testing at the University’s Postgraduate Open Days on 13 and 15 November. This approach is really quick, cheap and easy to run, and provided a great opportunity for our team to engage directly with prospective students.

We’re running a series of events in December to introduce ourselves to the University’s web marketing and recruitment and admissions communities. Join us to find out about our early priorities and our vision for the future of student recruitment web publishing.
