I joined the Prospective Student Web Content Team in September 2023, and immediately headed out on campus with everyone to conduct usability testing with new students. It was a great way to immerse myself in the Team’s user-centred approach and learn about a technique that should be part of every content designer’s skill set.
Over the summer we undertook user research with prospective research students to better understand their experiences and help inform the design of our future web presence. We presented findings last week to the student recruitment and marketing community, and the slides and video are now available to staff.
Last week our Design Sprint Facilitator Nicola Dobiecka ran a session on experience mapping to share what we’ve learned about the prospective student decision making process. Session recording and access to the map are available to Edinburgh staff.
Join us on Wednesday 10 March to hear what we have learnt so far on entry requirements for undergraduate prospective students, and then help prioritise the areas we should improve.
We’re using an iterative, human-centred design approach to promote UniBuddy in a way that’s responsive to the needs of prospective students.
It’s just over six months since our collaboration with the Fees Service delivered an overhaul to how they present their services online. Yesterday we had our second quarterly check-in with them and learned how trends in enquiries have significantly improved.
