Public sector design community colleagues have been meeting to talk about service design; what it is and why it matters. The podcast they’ve produced is relevant to our service improvement work at the University and well worth a listen.
Once again we contributed to the University’s Festival of Creative Learning, a week in the academic schedule where students take a break from their formal studies to explore a wide range of new topics and learning techniques.
The leading user experience conference UX Scotland is once again being held in Edinburgh this June. This year I’m contributing a session.
Over the Festival of Creative Learning, I ran a workshop to teach Writing for the Web to students and had them demonstrate their newfound skills through a collaborative writing exercise.

Our cycle of usability testing showcases continues on Friday 1 March at 9.30am. Participants will have the opportunity to watch students using a Learn course, before collaboratively prioritising the main usability issues observed.
We’ve launched a new version of the Effective Digital Content, using stand-alone in-house videos, up-to-date with the latest legislation and research.
Our next lunchtime meetup is on Tuesday 19 February. In this session we will be showing a video of Jared Spool’s ‘Beyond the UX Tipping Point’.
