Supporting our research community to disseminate their outputs

The Website & Communication team have received increased reports that Research Explorer (PURE) data displayed within University Staff Profiles and Profile embeds have been experiencing issues with content freshness in that the latest research entries are not being returned within these publication lists.  We acknowledge the issues with using the widget that presents research publication information and would like to apologise for all the inconvenience caused.

The process for delivering the external data to University Staff Profiles and Pure Profile embeds relies on a bespoke script, designed to work within requirements set by previous versions of the Research Explorer. After pursuing various routes to address the issue, it has now become clear that this will not be possible.

The University of Edinburgh Research Explorer

How we will ensure accuracy of research outputs in our web estate

As an interim solution we will be replacing the list of research publication information, with a link to the relevant research profile within the University of Edinburgh Research Explorer. This capability will be released by Thursday 18th April 2024, and will not require any action from your part.

The Website & Communication team understand the value to this data and will shift our attention to include the requirements for research information in a future project that will approach the wider requirements for academic and professional staff profiles, and to ensure a delivery of a robust, fit-for-purpose solution that servers our academic community.
