Edweb tops 100

We are very pleased to reach our Edweb 100 milestone.

Even though it has become a bit of a cliché, the image of the challenge of refuelling a jet in mid-air seems more than appropriate here.

The UWP team has managed to continue running the Polopoly-driven University website whilst preparing and delivering the migration of over 100 sites with complex functionality simultaneously without the public-facing website ever coming down, for one second, ever, over the past 6 months.

We have just secured the smooth transition of the massive 5000 page IS website to EdWeb, this is our biggest site yet. We have more to come with schools such as Literatures Languages and Cultures next on the list, bringing yet more complexity.

If we carry on at this rate (and we will), we shall have over 60% of our content in EdWeb by the end of October 2015. This will bring a better user experience both for our 100 strong university-wide editorial collaborators, greater flexibility in design available for those who want it, and a responsive, mobile friendly output for those accessing content everywhere in the world.

And if you haven’t already seen the responsive University search pages, then take a look on your phone or tablet and see how much easier it is to find someone’s telephone number.

Here’s to the next EdWeb 100!
