New developments we’re working on (eg widgets, search) not tied to a specific CMS.

In March 2016, the University Website Programme was approached by Communications and Marketing for help bringing the interactive campus maps application into EdWeb.

This month’s WPC session focused on the EdWeb Roadmap, campus maps development and included a special guest talk from University-turned-Skyscanner employee David Pier.

The University homepage has received a dramatic new look marking the completion of the website migration project to EdWeb. The EdWeb project has been delivered collaboratively by teams within Information Services, including IS Applications and with stakeholders from Schools, Colleges and business units around the University.

This month’s Web Publishers’ Community session included talks on Lean UX, responsive widgets and the monthly project update on the EdWeb CMS. We were also joined by two guest speakers: Ewan McAndrew, the new Wikimedian in Residence and Stephen Donnelly, who spoke about the new media asset management system, Media Hopper.

Our range of available services has been expanded recently by the official launch of the EdGEL website, which hosts information and tools to support the University brand and its digital presence.

The final WPC session of 2015, focused on how best to maintain your University website, EdGEL, the Edinburgh Global Experience Language, as well as Bruce’s regular EdWeb project update.

Beginning in January, we’d like to reinstate regular Tech Peer Group meetings, and we need your input to help us review how we conduct the meetings and what the content should be.

October’s WPC took a broader view than some of the recent, more EdWeb-focused sessions. In the process of redesigning the website’s search results page, I tried out rapid collaborative prototyping and found it dramatically speeded up my design development and helped to build consensus with stakeholders in the team.
