Sharing the work of the Prospective Student Web Team

Gerry McGovern writes weekly on matters of digital content management. His recent post post pretty much defined the digital content challenge the University continues to face, and one that we’ve set up the Prospective Student Web Content team to address.

We’ll be joining web publishing and marketing colleagues from across the University on Wednesday 27 May from 3pm to talk about our recent work with the Fees Service, and also to share upcoming priorities.

A new website centred on students’ needs around fees and cost of study went live today. The project was led by the Prospective Student Web Content Team, in close collaboration with the Fees Service in Scholarships and Student Funding.

It was a pleasure to be able to support the Service Design in Government conference once again; connecting the organisers with University of Edinburgh students keen to network and learn more about the discipline. It’s been a positive experience all round.

We’re looking for a user-centred content designer to join our team. The deadline for applications is 5pm on Monday 23 March.

February has seen us turn our attention to working out how best to present fees information to prospective postgraduates. We also saw the Undergraduate Degree Finder 2021 go live on schedule.

We’ve focused this sprint on finding solutions to the biggest issues facing prospective postgraduates investigating cost of study, and generating a prototype that’s demonstrably better than current provision.

January has seen a great deal of focus on working towards delivering the refresh of the Undergraduate Degree Finder, but we’ve also been collating and communicating user research to support upcoming work to improve the postgraduate fees experience.

We’ve been looking at conferences happening in the first half of 2020 following on from reviews of personal development plans. There are some great opportunities nearby and further afield that we want to take advantage of, and hope to see colleagues across the University joining us.
