Since September, the User Experience Service has been carrying out a comprehensive programme of user research in support of the Learn Foundations project.

Last month we welcomed colleagues from two European universities who spent a few days finding out how we run our user experience and web publishing services. In this post, Francesca Marangoni from the University of Trento and Renata Coutinho from the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal share their experiences.

I was really pleased to have the opportunity to attend SDinGOV once again, and have pulled together a few thoughts and resources from the sessions that stood out the most for me.

We’re attending and presenting at the Institutional Web Management Workshop, being held 25-27 June at the University of Greenwich. The conference is aimed at staff in UK higher education institutions responsible for websites and other digital provisions.

On Tuesday 14 May we welcome Web Portal Service Manager Mary Elder who will be telling us about the work that has happened over the past year to deliver a truly-user centered portal for current students.

This week we hosted the Public Sector Design Community meetup where attendees had the opportunity to share their side hustles.

On April 11, we will apply the latest developments to EdWeb: Google Tag Manager, updates to our GDPR mechanisms, and updates to the Profile Overview page. We’ll also be adding the latest set of bug fixes, Drupal core and module security updates.

A preview release of the new MyEd portal is now available to students at the University.  This is the first step in releasing improvements to our community of users as well as providing opportunities for feedback.

In the latest user-focused lunchtime meetup, Chris Giles, Lillie McEnteer and Richard Arkless from Student Systems gave an inspiring talk on what they took away from a Lean in Higher Education conference, and Neil Allison gave a presentation on the principles of Lean UX methodology.
