EdWeb deployment update August 2015

The next regularly scheduled updates and improvements to EdWeb take place on Thursday 6 August and Tuesday 25 August. These deployments will introduce the additions of personalised subsite footers, customisable colour themes, and a new streaming media asset tool, as well as performance and accessibility improvements.

New features

From August 6:

Personalised subsite footers — EdWeb will soon allow for customised website footers, including the ability to add logos and links. This additional footer will appear above the universal footer found on all pages.

Updated subsite colour themes — Not happy with University red as a colour theme? You’ll soon have the option to choose from a wide variety of other colour themes in order to make your subsite stand out. You’ll find the Site-wide colour theme selection tool under Subsite elements.

Colour themes range from bright and attention-getting to more subtle and sophisticated.

From August 25:

EdWeb streaming video and audio asset — Later this month EdWeb users will have the capability to add media files hosted by the IS Streaming Media Service to the asset store. This new asset icon will be located on the right-hand tool bar in edit mode, directly beneath the html asset generator.

Along with these changes, we will also be deploying small (‘standard’) changes to the ‘modules’ that comprise EdWeb. These are detailed in full on the EdWeb Change Advisory Board (CAB) pages, and are mainly of use to technical users, or those who run EdWeb distributions. They have no expected impact on the way that EdWeb is used.
