Reports from our training and events, both UWP-run and external; updates on new training we’re developing, and why.
I set myself the challenge of writing a summary of each session I attended at UX Scotland, as a way of forming my own thoughts on each topic, and to make sure to follow up on everything I wanted to.
We’ve just come back from UX Scotland, the annual conference hosted in Edinburgh that attracts user experience and service design professionals from around the world. This year there was a good turnout from the higher education sector, not least from our university. In this post a few of us who were there share our thoughts…
Last week I attended ContentEd – a two-day conference dedicated to content strategy in higher education. In this post, I recap the highlights and lessons learned from this inspiring and educating conference.
At this month’s Web Publishers’ Community session talks covered user experience; GDPR compliance in EdWeb; how to check if a Google Analytics implementation is working; and how the EdWeb cookie consent banner works.
The brave new world of European data protection laws mean that web analytics will not be a ‘GDPR-free’ zone. So I thought I’d note here what I expect to change (and remain the same) after 25 May.
If you’re interested in predicting the future, our next lunchtime UX meetup is for you. Find out how adopting a user-centred approach to developing services and experiences can help you get ahead of the curve.
We’re heading down to the University of York for the Institutional Web Management Workshop (11-13 July), and we want you to come, too. The conference is aimed at staff in UK higher education institutions responsible for websites and other digital provisions.
I recently ran a one-day workshop for IS web editors focused on teaching them how to iteratively improve their digital content so users are able to self-serve on their site. The event was a great success, with attendees leaving with an appreciation for what it takes to create user-focused content.
Our latest showcase event for the User Experience Service focused on case studies of recent projects. Lightning talks were followed by a chance to chat with members of project and service teams who had commissioned the work.
It’s just over a year since we trialled our first user experience training package. We’ve run the sessions 4 times now, receiving excellent feedback from attendees and refining the provision each time to better meet staff needs.
