I’ve been a long time subscriber to the remote usability testing tool UserTesting.com. They’ve recently introduced a free taster service – “Peek” – which I recommend you try out.

Billy Wardrop recently joined the University Website Programme fulfilling the role of the CMS Support Officer, which had been vacant since the beginning of March 2014. His main responsibilities are to provide technical expertise and guidance for existing services and projects, offering input to applications development and support processes, and providing second-line user support.
The University at the Festivals website showcases the University’s involvement in the Edinburgh festivals, and this year we’re sharing the content using RSS feeds.
Over the past few months we’ve been running new training sessions on how to prototype and how to use personas to improve the user focus of developments. Pilot sessions have been well attended and positively reviewed.
Last month Bruce and I attended the UX Scotland conference, held at the Dynamic Earth Centre here in Edinburgh. (UX is shorthand for ‘user experience’). I’ve been considering whether we could use video training to enhance our training and support offering. Our initial attempts have been promising and I expect we will be able to alleviate some of the demand for our training in future.
