This sprint has seen the team deliver on a new site structure for a standalone fees website whilst continuing our ideation, prototyping and testing process to create critical new content to address top student tasks. We’ve also considered how well search is performing for students seeking fees information.

In January we ran two open-invite sessions to collaboratively review some of the usability testing videos we recorded during November’s Postgraduate Open Day. Nearly 70 colleagues joined us to agree the biggest issues facing prospective students as they tried to establish their cost of study online.

Our first sprint of the New Year (and of the new decade!) has just wrapped up. A key delivery was the rapid and successful refresh of our undergraduate degree finder content. Read on for a quick overview of the sprint activities and achievements.

As part of our user research in the discovery phase we interviewed University staff about their experiences of providing services to prospective students. Our goal was to uncover insight relating to staff experiences to see how it fits in with other areas of discovery work we’re doing.

The new Prospective Student Web Content Team is adopting an Agile approach to delivery, using the Scrum framework. Although this represents a new way of working for many in our team, it’s already a nice fit for our mission. We’re getting on with the job at hand.

Join us in January to watch prospective postgraduate students navigating the University website to find key information, and then prioritise the biggest issues we need to fix first.

As the UX Specialist within the team, I led the guerrilla usability testing at the University’s Postgraduate Open Days on 13 and 15 November. This approach is really quick, cheap and easy to run, and provided a great opportunity for our team to engage directly with prospective students.

We recently spent the day talking to prospective postgraduates and observing them interacting with colleagues during a visit day. It was an eye-opening experience for the team for a number of reasons, and importantly we began putting some important principles into practice.
