Since presenting at DrupalCon in 2022 I have been contributing to Drupal’s marketing and usability initiatives. Returning to speak at DrupalCon 2023, I wanted to share what I’d learned, do some hands-on activities and encourage the community to apply UX principles to all things Drupal.

We run a lot of workshops and facilitate a lot of design thinking activities. Sometimes we struggle for meeting rooms when running something at short notice but actually, I enjoy working in impromptu and open spaces. Here’s why…

It’s just over a year since we trialled our first user experience training package. We’ve run the sessions 4 times now, receiving excellent feedback from attendees and refining the provision each time to better meet staff needs.

Our next monthly lunchtime meet up for people interested in user experience-related matters is Wednesday 21 February, with presenter Chris Nodder providing a beginner’s guide to Design Thinking.

Before we turn our attention to the upcoming academic year, our team is taking a step back to review the most significant achievements of 2017. The main areas of focus are on web strategy and governance, continuous work to support the University web development community, EdWeb enhancements and procuring a replacement web search service.

I’ve developed a new training package combining in-person and online materials for the University that pulls together important user experience and collaboration techniques. In this post I’ll cover what’s coming and why, and how you can begin ‘design thinking’ through online provision at Lynda.com.
