Discussion around changes and news directly relevant to the UWP team – staffing changes, social news etc

This week we bid farewell to Rachel Bhandari, who has been an essential member of our team for the past couple of years doing great work to enhance our content strategy practices and helping the Universtiy transition to EdWeb.

The first EdWeb code sprint took place with 14 people coming together to discuss, develop, code and problem solve a set of requirements and changes for EdWeb. This summer I have been working with UWP to look into efficient and cost-effective ways for subtitling University-owned videos.

I have just reached the middle point of my twelve-week internship with the UWP tech team working on extending the PURE API. It has been an amazing journey both to obtain skills and to get familiarised with work environment.

Vanessa Zervogianni has joined us as a Usability Testing Service Assistant, enabling the pilot service to support more schools and business units to make their websites and software more user friendly.

This month’s Web Publishers’ Community session included talks on Lean UX, responsive widgets and the monthly project update on the EdWeb CMS. We were also joined by two guest speakers: Ewan McAndrew, the new Wikimedian in Residence and Stephen Donnelly, who spoke about the new media asset management system, Media Hopper.

After 10 years heading up the University Website Programme, Dawn Ellis left the University in December 2015. During this time, Dawn has overseen huge change in the University’s online presence.
