University style – keeping focus

University style is an important part of our branding. Our two minute video from the Effective Digital Content course explains what’s important and what you need to know.

Are you feeling focused? Or should that be focussed? Did you know that both are considered correct English? However, if you’re writing for the University, you should only use one ‘s’.

This is a great example of where the University style guides come into play. If you write content for the University you should be aware of the two guides. There’s one for print content, and one for digital content. These lists of conventions of writing style tell you how to spell and format your content.

What’s the difference?

The two guides relate closely to each other, but there are a few areas where digital content should take a different approach. For example, the formatting style of bullet points is a bit different, and the Web Style Guide has a dedicated section on abbreviations.
