In 2021 I created a diagram of the people, processes and systems surrounding the Degree Finders to help inform our technical planning and communication to stakeholders. I’ve just updated the diagram for 2025 to reflect our new service. Comparing old with new really highlights how much our technology landscape has evolved and simplified.

After a 5 year hiatus, DrupalCamp Scotland returns this week. It’s a great way for Drupal developers to come together and learn from each other. I’m proud to have played a part in its return, with the University hosting the event.
On Friday, I attended my first unconference. It turned out to be one of the most fulfilling days I’ve had in a long time.
While it’s been disappointing to push back our go live dates for our future state project, our developers have been making best use of the hiatus and we’ve achieved some things that will benefit us in the longer term.
We just finished building a replacement tuition fees application which improves processes and makes our colleagues’ lives easier. The most important part for me, though, is the groundwork for future enhancements to the presentation of tuition fees for our replacement degree finders.
We worked to support our Admissions Service colleagues by developing a new web interface to display degree programmes in clearing, following agile principles and a user-centred process.
