UX Showcase event 13 October
We’re running another informal briefing and networking event centred around user experience-related services and activities happening at the moment. You can book a place for the session happening at Argyle House, Friday 13 October 14:30.
The format of the session will be very similar to the last one we ran in June:
- A series of lightening talks for the first 30 or so minutes
- Lots of time for chats with the speakers who will be on hand with displays of their work and eager to share
- Networking opportunities over coffee with fellow attendees
Lightening talks
This time, the topics and speakers will be:
- Why we must start with user needs – Neil Allison (User Experience Manager)
- The role of UX in web governance – Colan Mehaffrey (Head of Web Strategy & Technologies)
- User Centred Portal project: What we’ve learned from students – Shane Walsh (UX Consultant, User Centred Portal Project)
- How we’ve evolved Student Digital Experience Standards – Marty Dunlop (UX Consultant, Experience Services)
- Applying standards to a project, a self-service model – Magda Tsiobanelis (UX Consultant, Experience Services)
- Edinburgh Global Experience Language (EdGEL): Where we are and our vision for the future – Stratos Filalithis (Acting Head of Website & Communications)

Engage, network, share and learn
After the lightening talks which will last between 30 and 40 minutes, there will be lots of opportunity to engage with the speakers and other attendees over refreshments.
Stay as long as you like to review the materials we’ll have on the walls and learn more about anything that particularly interests you.
Mini workshop
We’re also planning an optional mini workshop for up to 10 colleagues at which we will explore the issues we encounter trying to undertake user experience research and design work, and share strategies for overcoming these barriers.
The mini-workshop will happen in the second hour, which still leaves plenty of time for coffee and the other stuff we’re sharing.
Book a place at the showcase and networking event
Spaces are limited, so please book a place if you’d like to come.
