Continuing our UX research on AI features, we worked with the EdHelp team to design and run user tests to learn how students respond to their ELM-enhanced online enquiry service, AskEdHelp. This post documents our methods, findings and recommendations. 

I enjoyed taking part in the Digital Leaders Summit for 2025, organised by Boye & Co and hosted at the University of Cambridge. We achieved a lot in a single day – sharing work and ideas and discussing trends and challenges in digital leadership across multiple sectors.

Now in its third year, the annual Scottish Web Folk conference was organised and hosted by the brilliant Web Services team at the University of Dundee on 30 October. This summer, Digital Content Style Guide Intern Mostafa Ebid integrated ELM into EdWeb2 in a Generative AI tool aimed at helping web publishers prepare content. He tested it with a sample of participants to make an initial assessment of the user experience it provided in the context of assisting them with web publishing tasks.

On 26 June 2025, members of the UX team attended a half-day unconference organised by the Prospective Student Web team. In this post, we’ve written up some reflections on the event.

As part of the Role of Profiles project, the UX team learned from the work of Safa Alsalman, who investigated using AI to produce biographical content for academic staff while working for Edinburgh Innovations.

During a day spent working with Drupal AI specialists, we explored different ways to apply AI to enhance search and retrieval of content from University websites.  

As part of a day of AI experimentation with Drupal specialists, we learned how to use automated technology to evaluate content against the University’s guidance on house writing style.  

Advancements in Drupal AI and LLMs prompted us to explore ways to use AI to enhance and improve UX. Working with Drupal AI specialists, we spent a day considering how AI can impact user experiences of those publishing, searching and consuming University web content.
