EdWeb CMS showcase sessions in early May
We’re running short, informative sessions in early May to give colleagues a showcase of what the new website and CMS can do and an outline of what is still to come. Check out the new videos and demo site too. The sessions are an open invite, so if you know of colleagues who might like to learn more, please pass the details on.
The transition to the new University Website Content Management System (CMS), EdWeb, has begun. This change of technology brings with it a new design for the University Website.
The transition process will be completed by the end of 2015.
While web publishers – especially those using our current CMS Polopoly – are probably all familiar with what’s happening, when and why, we want to reach out to the rest of the University community. In particular, we hope the session will be of interest to staff who have a stake in University website management but are not ‘hands-on’.
The sessions are an open invite, so if you know of colleagues who might like to learn more, please pass the details on.
About the session
The hour-long session will cover:
- How and why the website design is changing, meeting the needs of an ever growing number of mobile device users
- How quick and simple it is to manage web pages in the new system – we’re prioritising the non-specialist web publishers who make up the majority of our website management community
- How dynamic reuse of information is bringing efficiencies to website management practices
- How homepage management is now more flexible, quick and easy
- What’s still to come, with technical development running to the end of July 2015 then picking up again in 2016.
If you can’t attend
We’ve created a demo website specifically to showcase all the features of the new system and the web page presentation possible.

You can also watch videos of the showcase session. We’ve broken it up into short segments.

Hi Louise,
We’ve just announced a further date at the Chrystal MacMillan Building, George Square on Wednesday 13 May. Demand is pretty high so I’d expect us to be doing more in June too.
Don’t forget videos of the presentation are available on the EdWeb demo site too.
