The University homepage has received a dramatic new look marking the completion of the website migration project to EdWeb. The EdWeb project has been delivered collaboratively by teams within Information Services, including IS Applications and with stakeholders from Schools, Colleges and business units around the University.

With the end of the long migration of content from Polopoly into EdWeb now in sight we are looking at how important website content can be preserved and potentially archived. The decommissioning of Polopoly will start 1 June 2016 and editors will have full access up until then.

The current EdWeb enhancements phase will comprise of six development iterations which are scheduled to complete in July 2016. Recent deployments included additional branding space for business units to add logos and homepage enhancements.

The University’s new Drupal-based central website has been recognised by the Scottish Drupal community, winning the Best Public/Not for profit Drupal website category in the Scottish Drupal Awards 2015.

The migration from Polopoly to EdWeb has moved into the last phase of our five-phase process. 172 websites are now live in EdWeb and with phase 5 already in progress, this figure will rise steadily in the coming months.

To move forward you sometimes need to take a step back and review the direction you are going in. That’s exactly what we are doing at the moment as our first CMS project closes and the next one opens. We hope to move into our next phase, the CMS enhancements project, in early November 2015.
