Migration project passes halfway point

While we started the migration from Polopoly into EdWeb back in October 2014 we always said we’d start off slowly and then dramatically increase the pace between June and October 2015. And that is exactly what we’ve done. We’ve been measuring our progress by both the number of discrete sites we’ve migrated but also the number of published pages we’ve migrated. Either way you look at it we’ve definitely passed the halfway point.

The reason for starting the migration slowly was to pilot and then refine the process. Our goal has always been to have no site down time during the migration as this could seriously disrupt University business, so we didn’t want to risk this by setting the pace too fast early on.

Migration Phase 4 (1 June – Oct 15)

As we approach the end of phase four, the migration project remains on track with just over half the total pages migrated. Significant achievements this month include the completion of the migration of the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures group of websites, comprising 30 sites with over 3000 pages.

The last phase four sites begin their migration timeslot in early October. There is then a week’s contingency break before the first phase five timeslot begins.

Phase 5 (Oct 2015 – Apr 2016)

Phase five migration is ready to go. Migration liaison is continuing with all phase five lead publishers and almost all timeslots have been agreed.
