MyEd Updates – October 2025

This month we have deployed some more updates to MyEd, the University’s web portal. These are the latest in a series deployed as part of this year’s MyEd upgrade project.

Keeping things up to date

The infrastructure that MyEd uses needs to be kept up-to-date and secure as well as the applications that make up MyEd.  This month saw some updates for the MyEd application servers.

Making changes smoother

Whenever possible, you shouldn’t notice that we’re deploying changes to MyEd. Most of the time, MyEd remains available, and people can keep on using it as normal.  However, sometimes the nature of the changes we are making mean that users may see errors for a short period.  Users have also had problems where their web browser has cached old versions of pages and files. We’ve been working on ways to prevent this happening wherever possible, and the updates released in August and this month should improve this.

Continuous improvements

We’ve also made some minor changes to the Card PIN portlet and the My finance portlet. For Card PIN we’ve fixed a bug which meant that sometimes the expiry date the portlet showed was incorrect.  For My finance we’ve improved the user experience when a user decides they don’t want to complete a card payment.

Removing old functionality

The login changes in the summer meant that some older portlets in MyEd would no longer work. These included My courses, and Training and event booking.  We’ve updated or retired all the portlets this affected.  This meant that we have been able to delete the legacy functionality in MyEd which these portlets were using, and we won’t need to maintain it in future.
