Childhood Shadows: Touching the Edge of Memory

Introduction

This toolkit will take you on a journey back to your earliest memories, expressing those vague yet warm fragments through drawing or writing. There are no standard answers here, only personal experiences and feelings. Through this simple creation, we can get to know these forgotten moments and feel their unique meanings in our own hearts again.

Let’s get it on!

Step 1: Memory Recall (3 minutes)

  • Everyone closes eyes, takes a few deep breaths, relaxes, and starts recalling.
  • Guiding Questions:

What is your earliest memory?

       Where were you?

       What was around you?

       What smells, sounds, or emotions?

Is your memory a moving picture or a still picture?

Step 2: Note-taking and Reflection (5 minutes)

Free Writing: You have 2-3 minutes to quickly jot down details from your memory, capturing key elements or feelings.

Keyword Selection: You can choose 1-2 keywords or symbols that capture the essence of the memory.

Step 3: Visual or Written Expression (8 minutes)

Choose a Medium: You can choose a variety of expressions to present your memories: use colours to express the emotions of the moment, use symbolic motifs to capture vague feelings, or write short words to convey the memory.

Step 4: Voluntary Sharing and Brief Discussion (4 minutes)

Sharing and communication:Now, you can invite a few participants to show their creations or briefly describe their memories.
