Chinese Contemporary Art Guiding Machine

Summary

This is a guiding machine designed for people who are interested in Chinese contemporary art but do not have much knowledge about the Chinese cultural background. Guiding Machine contains three representative and completely different artwork cases. The first one is an installation artwork made of silk. The material with symbolic properties gives the work the spiritual core of Chinese classical philosophy and explores the concept of life, and grand topics such as nation, survival and death. The second work uses ink as the medium. Contemporary ink wash painting is with academic fervor and the attention of various central level art institutions. How to give such traditional media a contemporary character and make it beneficial to the contemporary social ecology or art ecology is a question that has been discussed for decades. The last work selected is a highly topical and very young artistic experimental work. It shows the family education issues in contemporary Chinese society in an experimental way and arouses the audience's reflection.
Based on these three examples, machine provides users with research and learning experiences on different types of contemporary art by asking questions and providing learning resources for users to correct their answers. Hopefully these experiences will enable users to appreciate and understand the contemporary Chinese art works with transferable researching skills and pathways in real life.
