Coming soon to Media Hopper Create!

There are some exciting updates coming to Media Hopper Create, the University’s portal for creating, uploading, sharing and editing media content. The update will come with new features designed to enhance the user experience and streamline media management to make it more efficient.

Some of the new features to look out for will include:

  • Homepage Refresh: The homepage is getting a modern facelift. Expect a sleek, streamlined interface with curated content collections to highlight relevant media. A dynamic carousel of videos will replace the current static media, making it easier to discover great new content.
  • New Media Player: A new media player with a cleaner interface is being introduced. This player offers improved functionality, interactive transcripts, and in-player search features. Navigating and watching content will become more intuitive and efficient.
  • Bulk Uploading: You can now upload multiple files at the same time with enhanced queuing options.  Users can now add tags, Creative Commons licenses, and other metadata to all uploads in the queue, saving time and ensuring content is well-organized.
  • Upgraded Search: The search functionality has been upgraded to include comprehensive filtering options. This improvement allows users to find the exact content they need faster as well as discovering new content.
  • Media Stitching: The media stitching feature allows users to combine up to five videos from their library into a single, continuously playing video. This is ideal for creating seamless presentations and merging video content.
  • Improved Kaltura Capture Desktop Recorder Processing: Kaltura Capture processing has been significantly improved, ensuring that media content is ready faster for playback. With this change source media files will no longer be saved on the service, but full video editing tools remain available, and the source file will remain on the user’s computer for offline backup if needed.

The service team is working on the upgrade process and all features are set to be made available by the start of term. The upcoming enhancements to the service, which places video at the center of teaching, learning, research, and public engagement, will make Media Hopper Create more user-friendly and efficient for academics, staff, and students.
