In this podcast, Prof. Judy Hardy, Dean of Teaching and Learning in the College of Science and Engineering and Dr. Neil Lent Lecturer in Learning and Teaching at the Institute for Academic Development, explain the changes that staff have made to assessment as a result of Covid-19 and discuss the merits of these changes for the student experience. Judy Hardy

Judy is Professor of Physics Education and Dean of Teaching and Learning in the College of Science and Engineering. Judy leads the Physics Education research group at the University of Edinburgh.  Her research interests are in developing and evaluating evidence-based educational strategies that improve student learning in physics and related disciplines. She is particularly interested in the student experience of learning, teaching, assessment and feedback and in the ways that this can inform educational development.


Neil Lent

Dr Neil Lent is a lecturer in University Learning and Teaching at the Institute for Academic Development. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His remit in the IAD is enhancing assessment and feedback practices within the University of Edinburgh. He has interests in the enhancement of learning and teaching, employability, and understanding and evaluating cultural change in higher education.
