Unit4: Making Steps

1.Think about what kind of animal you want to create.

2.Observe the skeleton of the animal’s body you have chosen.

3. Select a big piece of air clay of the corresponding color and mold it into a ball, oval or cylindrical shape as the body of the animal to shape the main body.

4. Take small pieces of air clay to make the head, ears, legs and tail, and gently press them together to fix all the parts in place.

5. When creating, one can appropriately exaggerate a feature (key point). For example: very big ears, extremely long tails, huge eyes or very small feet, etc.

6. Gently press the texture (fur, scales, feathers, etc.) with a pen cap or needles to add texture and details and make it more realistic.

7. After that, start coloring the model with pigment.

8. After the pigment dries, use marker pen to draw the details of the animal. For example: eyes, nose, mouth, hair, spots, etc.

9. Give your animal partner a name and briefly describe your creative motivation and the significance of your artwork.
