Where are we now?
Due to the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak, the Quality Assurance Agency Scotland (QAAS) are making changes to their schedule of ELIRs, and have asked that our review is postponed. Discussions are at an early stage, but the review visits are most likely to be moved to semester 2 2020/21, with the Reflective Analysis (RA) and supporting Advanced Information Set (AIS) submitted towards the end of November 2020. We hope to keep our original review team, however, this will depend on their availability.
Thanks to the valuable contributions from students and staff and the work of internal and external reviewers, we now have a near complete Reflective Analysis (RA). The majority of the RA will remain the same, however, we will be updating the student data and the status of key activities and projects, and providing a reflection on our response to the Covid-19 outbreak.
We had written out to many colleagues to ask them to hold in their diaries either the original planning visit date (1 October 2020) or the week of the main review visit (week beginning 16 November 2020). Thank you to everyone who did this and responded with further information about their roles and involvement in key activities. These dates can now be released in diaries.
What happens next?
We are working with QAAS to identify new dates for our review visits and, once these are agreed, we will provide an update. We will also be discussing our internal periodic review schedule, as some reviews from 2019/20 were postponed and reviews for 2020/21 were scheduled for semester 2, when the ELIR will now likely take place. Again, we will keep colleagues informed of the outcomes of discussions.

Tina is Assistant Principal Academic Standards and Quality Assurance and Professor of Financial Services Marketing and Consumption. Tina joined the University in 1993 and continues to maintain an active academic role in the Business School. She has had overall responsibility for the University’s quality assurance framework as Assistant Principal since 2009. She plays a key role in the Scottish HE quality landscape as a member of QAA Scotland’s Advisory Board, chair of the sparqs University Advisory Group, and member of the Quality Arrangements for Scottish Higher Education (QASHE) group.
