Welcome to the third and final episode in the Uncovering UNCOVER podcast series: UNCOVERing good evidence reviews. UNCOVER (Usher Network for COVID-19 Evidence Reviews) is a network of population health researchers and information specialists committed to responding to requests from policymakers for evidence reviews.
In this final uncovering UNCOVER podcast episode, Ruth McQuillan and Marshall Dozier, both core members of UNCOVER, describe key features of a good evidence review, and provide tips to novice reviewers on how to create a good evidence review. Madhurima Nundy, an UNCOVER Reviewer, shares her experience collaborating with staff in a review team, and what challenges she faced.

Marshall Dozier
Marshall Dozier is an Academic Support Librarian for the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine at The University of Edinburgh. She has particular expertise in information skills tutoring, teaching courses on information literacies for online learning, and systematic reviews. She is interested in web-based information skills tutoring, online learning and aspects of medical education, like problem-based learning and evidence-based medicine.
Ruth McQuillan
Dr Ruth McQuillan is the Master of Integrated Global Health (online) programme’s co-director at The University of Edinburgh. Her interest is in non-communicable diseases in a global context. Ruth was involved in the establishing of the university’s successful Master of Public Health online programme, leading it until the end of 2020, during which time it achieved external accreditation from APHEA (Agency for Public Health Education Accreditation).
Madhurima Nundy
Dr Madhurima Nundy is a medical graduate and a practicing GP from India. She did her MPH from University of Edinburgh in 2019-2020 and started out as one of the first few volunteers of UNCOVER at the time of its conception. Ever since then, she has been involved with UNCOVER in many multidisciplinary teams, and has been in the role of peer mentor, team leader and lead reviewer.

Eric is a Mathematics and Statistics student at The University of Edinburgh, and a podcasting intern for Teaching Matters. Eric is passionate about university student mental health, interviewing researchers for the Student Mental Health Research Network at King’s College London, leading the University of Edinburgh’s WellComm Kings Peer Support Scheme, and conducting research on stigma for People With Mental Illnesses (PWMI). In his free time, he enjoys watching and playing sports, over-analysing hip-hop songs, podcasts, and any sort of wholesome shenanigans.
