Weekly Changes – 05/02/2024

There’s very little change to report this week, here are the few details…

FAI

The setup-storage utility from the Fully Automatic Installation (FAI) project has been updated to the latest version. Not much in the way of changes this time, see the release announcement for full details. This version of FAI has some other new helper scripts which we will consider integrating into the LCFG fstab component to make it easier to select the correct disks at install time.

Rust language

The version of Rust on Ubuntu has been updated to 1.71, as usual this requires postship tweaks to avoid conflicts with older package versions.

LCFG Documentation

There is a new package list file – lcfg/lcfg_ubu2204_docs.pkgs – which can be used to install all the LCFG component documentation packages. These files provide the Plain Old Documentation (POD) files which can be used to generate manual pages and HTML. The intention is that this will be used to provide access to all the component documentation on the LCFG website.

Software

There is a new LCFG_OPTIONS_FLATPAK package option for installing the flatpak “Application deployment framework” on Ubuntu.

Also, the Ubuntu Focal package options file has been updated to match more closely with Jammy.

Changes to headers and package lists

Members of the Informatics Computing team can browse all the changes to the headers and package lists.
