Weekly Changes – 25/05/2026

Nearly all changes this week relate to kernel or module updates. Here are the details of the notable changes…

Kernel

The INF series kernel has been updated to 6.8.0-117.117 on Ubuntu Jammy and Noble. This provides fixes for Copy Fail but appears to lack fixes for other recent security vulnerabilities so we expect to update the INF series kernel again fairly soon.

All support for the old 6.14.0 series has been dropped.

OpenAFS

The version of OpenAFS on Ubuntu Jammy and Noble has been updated to 1.8.16. Currently, this is based on the first pre-release packages, taken from Debian unstable and rebuilt for Ubuntu. This provides some important fixes and supports recent kernel versions.

nvidia

The default series is now the 595 long-term production branch. Support for the old 570 and 575 series has been dropped as they are no longer supported by Ubuntu.

It’s also worth nothing that 580 is the last series to support the Volta/Pascal/Maxwell so some systems might need to be pinned at 580.

Network routing

On DICE systems, all support for the rdisc routing daemon has been removed.
