Weekly Changes – 08/06/2026
This most important changes this week are further kernel updates for the recently announced high-profile vulnerabilities. Here are the details all the notable changes…
Kernel
The INF series kernel has been updated to 6.8.0-124.124 for Jammy and Noble. We believe that this resolves all the recent high-profile vulnerabilities except CIFSwitch. An LCFG header – lcfg/options/cve_2026_46243.h is provided for mitigating the CIFSwitch issue.
nvidia
The list of supported kernel versions for nvidia modules has been trimmed to drop those no longer supported upstream by Ubuntu. On Noble, support has been added for the 7.0.0 kernel.
OpenAFS
OpenAFS has been updated from pre-release to the final 1.8.16 version. The dependencies for some library packages has also been fixed for Jammy.
Network component
The LCFG network component has gained support for setting the MTU on an interface.
Systemd component
The LCFG systemd component was updated, some improvements were made to the notify-by-email helper script.
Nightly Runner Time Periods
Three new ED option headers (copied from DICE) set the daily runner component’s run time to be randomised in particular time periods to help spread the load on our infrastructure.
- ed/options/daily-run-evening.h – (19:00-22:00)
- ed/options/daily-run-night.h – (23:00-07:00)
- ed/options/daily-run-outofhours.h – (19:00-07:00)
