Weekly Changes – 15/08/2022

SL7 kernel

For those following the INF kernel versions, the SL7 kernel version has been updated to 3.10.0-1160.71.1.el7.

PostgreSQL

Last week’s changes introduced support for LCFG-managed PostgreSQL servers (12 and 14) on Ubuntu. This week, by default, lcfg/options/postgresql-14.h now disables the automatic launching of an unmanaged postgresql server. You may choose to continue to run it by defining LCFG_OPTIONS_POSTGRESQL_14_ALLOW_UNMANAGED. You can also inhibit all unmanaged servers by defining LCFG_OPTIONS_POSTGRESQL_INHIBIT_UNMANAGED. Before using these, please ensure that unmanaged configurations make sense.

Ubuntu network

The dns component, where installed, no longer attempts to manage /etc/gai.conf. Management of this file reverts to the gaiconf component.

megaraid

There have been further changes to ensure that both the MegaCli and perccli tools are by default only installed on those Dell PowerEdge server models on which they will work correctly. The lcfg/options/raid_megaraid_sas.h header now has support for the RAID_TOOL_INHIBIT_PERCCLI and RAID_TOOL_INHIBIT_STORCLI macros. These may be used to ensure that the perccli and storcli (respectively) tools are not installed for certain hardware. RAID_TOOL_INHIBIT_PERCCLI is specified by default in the lcfg/hw/asus_esc4000_g3.h, lcfg/hw/dell_poweredge_r815.h and lcfg/hw/viglen_psc_X9DRG-QF.h headers. The lcfg/hw/asus_esc4000_g3.h header now also has RAID_TOOL_INHIBIT_MEGACLI specified.

hwmon

The LCFG hardware monitoring component hwmon now uses perccli (where present) to check the status of RAID drives, but falls back to using MegaCli (where perccli is not present but MegaCli is).

Go and debhelper

DICE Ubuntu machines carrying development packages now carry the dh-golang package which provides extra support for packaging software written in Go.

alpine

Those DICE Ubuntu machines specifying DICE_OPTIONS_ALPINE_PREVIEW now get the same version of alpine as those which don’t, instead of a nonexistent version.

ntp

The Ubuntu package option LCFG_OPTIONS_NTPD now also installs ntpstat.

bird

DICE machines using dice/options/bird.h now switch to a local build of the bird2 routing software.

Prometheus

The Prometheus server is updated to the latest version.
