Overview๏ผ
In this Open Toolkit, students will think about their own unique personality and consider how they can use colours, shapes and letters in a logo to express their unique personality.
Goals๏ผ
The objectives of this Open Toolkit include the following:
- artistic learning – this class will teach students to conceptualise an idea into a design.
- project participation – by the end of the class, students will have completed a personal logo that represents them in some way.
Materials๏ผ
Paper or tablet
Pencils, coloured pencils
Expectations๏ผ
Participating in logo design is a new experience for most students, and they may not know where to start with their logo design. However, with this Open Toolkit, students will explore the process of designing a logo in a way that will inspire their creativity.
OPEN TOOLKIT OUTLINE (20 Minutes)
PROJECT: PERSONAL LOGO DESIGN
STEP 1: Initial Sketches (5 minutes)
Show students examples of logos with simple lettering, such as Google and FedEx.

STEP 2: Activity Sketches (5 minutes)
Have students draw an activity they enjoy doing using the same simple, basic elements as letters.

STEP 3: Combining Elements (10 minutes)
Show students how to combine the initials and object/activity into one cohesive design.

On a new sheet of paper or on a tablet, have students begin to draw their personal logo, combining their initials/word drawing with their object/activity drawing.
