Weekly Changes – 08/01/2024

This is the first release of 2024, to ease everyone into the new year gently there are only a few changes for the Ubuntu kernel. Here are the details…

Kernel

The INF kernel for Ubuntu Focal and Jammy has been updated to version 5.15.0-91.101. Note that this means all DICE Ubuntu machines will require a reboot after the stable release.

On Jammy the HWE kernel now uses the 6.2.0 series (it looks like that may have already been superceded by 6.5.0).

openafs

Packages are now available for the latest version of openafs – 1.8.10 – on Ubuntu. For details of the changes see the release notes. This will become the standard version for DICE Ubuntu machines this week, other sites will default to 1.8.9 for now. The new version can be enabled by defining the ED_OPTIONS_OPENAFS_1810 macro before including the header.

Software

The ncal package is now installed on DICE Ubuntu Jammy machines so that the cal command-line calendar utility is available.

Changes to headers and package lists

Members of the Informatics Computing team can browse all the changes to the headers and package lists.
