Recent Activity for the LCFG project

Ubuntu Jammy Progress 9

We have moved onto the final phase of this project. Effort is now mostly focussed on the software requirements for the DICE desktop environment. One particularly notable change is that it is now possible to use Jammy for running web services.

Systemd

The default set of services for Jammy has been tweaked to be closer to a standard installation. In particular, this enables the new systemd-oomd.service and plocate-updatedb.timer.

PostgreSQL

The lcfg/options/postgresql-14.h and lcfg/options/postgresql-15.h headers have gained support for Jammy.

Web Services

The apacheconf and cosign components have been successfully tested on Jammy. Sites needing newer versions of PHP (e.g. 8.1) are recommended to use Jammy rather than attempting to backport packages to Focal.

PXE Service

The default NFS root directory path is now set correctly for Jammy. This may be overridden using the JAMMY_NFSROOT macro.
