Ubuntu Jammy Progress 5

The support for Ubuntu Jammy is now stabilising nicely. This week we have been working on mirroring the upstream package repositories so that we can begin supporting weekly stable releases. Here are all the details…

Installer ISO

For those wanting to test the new platform, a development version of the installer ISO for Jammy is now available for download on the LCFG website.

Package Mirroring

We are in the process of commissioning a new packages server for Informatics which provides a good opportunity to look at the mirroring of package repositories for Jammy. For clarity, the platform-specific parts of the ed/options/aptly.h header have been split out into separate headers – ed/options/aptly-focal.h and ed/options/aptly-jammy.h Currently the mirroring of upstream Ubuntu Jammy packages will only be enabled when the APTLY_DISTRO_JAMMY macro is defined. The configuration of optional package repositories for Jammy will be added once they are verified.

Kernel Packages

The ed/ed_ubu2204_kernel.pkgs packages list now has versions specified for the INF and INF_TEST kernel series. Currently they are all set to use 5.15.0-69.76 and they will continue to track the latest kernel until we have support for Jammy in our weekly stable releases.
