Weekly Changes – 01/08/2022

Another quiet week for changes whilst everyone is away enjoying their summer holidays. Here are the details…

DNS

When using the lcfg/options/dns.h header to include the LCFG dns component the gaiconf component will now be prevented from starting. This avoids a conflict where both components attempt to manage the /etc/gai.conf file. It is not possible to completely remove the gaiconf component from the profile since it is currently used as part of the Ubuntu install process.

nvidia

On Ubuntu there is new support for the 510 series driver (currently version 510.73.08), this is currently being tested and is not yet considered ready for production systems.

Kernel

The Ubuntu INF_TEST kernel has been updated to version 5.4.0-122.138

PXE Server

On Ubuntu, the pxeserver component now has better support for managing the grub configuration. In particular, the default menu item and serial port options should now always be correct. There is also new support for copying the necessary grub binary files into the TFTP directory.

Members of the Informatics Computing team can browse all the changes to the headers and package lists.
