Weekly Changes – 27/06/2022

On DICE this week there are substantial changes to the headers, nearly all of which are related to fixes to paths for the port to Ubuntu. Other users will see little change this week. Here are all the details…

DICE paths

To simplify porting services from SL7 to Ubuntu, on DICE lots of hardwired references to the old LCFG log directory location (/var/lcfg/log) have been replaced with references to the sysinfo.path_lcfglog resource. Similarly, references to the top-level configuration directory for the Apache web server (/etc/httpd) have been replaced with references to the apacheconf.serverroot resource. Note that in the Apache configuration it may be simpler to specify relative paths. If the path of a file is not absolute it is usually interpreted as relative to the top-level configuration directory.

Kernel

The Ubuntu INF_TEST kernel has been updated to 5.4.0-120.136 and the hardware enablement kernel has been updated to version 5.13.0-51.58~20.04.1.

NUT Component

There is an updated LCFG component for configuring the Network UPS Tools. This is named nut2 to indicate that it is a complete replacement for the old nut component, the schemas are substantially different and the code has been rewritten into Perl and uses the Template Toolkit to generate configuration files. Support has been added for Ubuntu and is currently being tested.

Mathematica

Mathematica version 13 is now available for DICE Ubuntu. Note that, due to license requirements, this is not available everywhere and is only installed on request.
