Project Planning Basics

After trusting my fate to twitter (never a good idea) the winner of the poll was project planning. (Naturally this was my least favourite of the options so I’ll probably abandon democracy from now on.)

This is a VERY quick overview of a process to put project plans together. I’m including a few templates here to work with as well as links to more resources. Some will be UoE specific but I’m sure other institutions have similar resources.

The slides from the session: Project Planning (I missed a few towards the end as I misjudged the timings, but hopefully everything is self explanatory.)

The session recording (it’s possible that this was “Zoombombed” so apologies for the disruption part way through. I hope it was an innocent mistake, but if anyone is sad enough to disrupt a slightly dull session on project planning I have nothing but sympathy for them.) (Also, profound apologies to Mike who I kicked out in error whilst flustered…)

This is a very quickly thrown together handout for the key questions in the session.

And the University of Edinburgh has an online toolkit for Project Management (some aspects will be UoE access only).

If you are UoE Research Staff then we’ll be running an online workshop on Project Management next week (March 31st) so please sign up for that via our usual booking channels.

Remember that all these sessions are run to help you be productive but not with the expectation that it’s “business as usual”. Be kind to yourself and allow time to recalibrate to your new situation.
