Digital Skills Festival 2021: looking forward

We are looking forward to presenting four interactive sessions at next week’s Digital Skills Festival. Each session is based on our experiences, particularly over the past year, when we moved our support for learning design online. 

All of these sessions are open for booking by Edinburgh staff and students.

How to… design a course online using ABC

In this session, you can: 

  • Learn what is meant by ‘ABC’.   
  • See how this supports course design.   
  • Interact with the online tools in the workshop environment.   
  • Discover ways to get the most out of the workshop (as a participant or a facilitator).

How to… use persona to improve design of student & staff experience

In this session, you can: 

  • Learn what is meant by a persona.   
  • See how they can be applied in a design context.   
  • Build a simple persona for a given context.   
  • Explore ways of using this to address accessibility and inclusion.

How to… facilitate highly interactive online workshops

Time: 10:00 – 10:50  

In this session, you can: 

  • Discover the essentials to enabling interaction online.   
  • Share experiences of things that have gone well (or not so well) and collectively find possible solutions.   
  • Explore how to select appropriate tools for the activity.   
  • Consider ways to cope when things don’t go to plan.   
  • Learn how to plan timings.

How to… write Intended Learning Outcomes 

Date: 26/05/21  

Time: 16:00 – 16:50  

In this session, you can: 

  • Learn what is meant by an Intended Learning Outcome (ILO).   
  • Discover the essential qualities of a ‘well written’ ILO.   
  • Practice improving ILOs using what you have learnt.   
  • See how to build ILOs to fit the context of a course/programme (including assessment).   
  • Work collectively on critiquing and improving any ILOs offered by participants.
