Autumn Step Challenge – Week 3

Autumn Step Challenge – Week 3

We have completed the third week of the challenge, just 7 more days to go!

As a team we have averaged just over a million steps a week (totalling 3,238,500) lets see if we can beat that in the final week. The challenge ends on Monday 30th November and the final leader board will be calculated at the end of that week.

We have a few more people on the leader board this week after more data was synced, so there are now 15 people taking part in the challenge.

There hasn’t been much change at the top of the leader board, with Jo and Kirsty still out in front and Marie sneaking into third place! Lorna D and Natalie both had a great week and are holding strong in their positions. Diane had one of her best days of the challenge so far with 16,300 steps and Ellyse had her best day with 21,700 steps.

It is great to see everyone continuing to get out walking, challenging themselves to do a bit more than normal.

Working from home has really had a huge impact on my daily step count, the lack of daily walking commute means that I have to make a special effort to get out for a walk. I have found that the step challenge has been a great way to encourage myself to get outside, even when the weather isn’t so great. I hope others have found that too!

Edinburgh Walking Route – Braid Hills and Liberton Tower

This was a nice little 4 mile loop walk which takes in the Braids and Liberton Tower.

We set off from Blackford Glen Road and followed the Howe Dean Path up to Braid Hills Drive. We crossed the road and followed the (rather muddy) route around Braid Hills Golf Course. We had a quick stop at the trig point and enjoyed the views across Edinburgh before setting off again. We took the path downhill towards the Wee Braids Golf Course at Liberton Drive, crossed the road and headed for Liberton Tower before looping back around to Blackford Glen Road.

This was an easy but very muddy walk, with great views across the city. A nice one to try when we are limited by travel restrictions at the moment.
