Weekly Changes – 28/04/2025

This week the main change is an important update for the LCFG installer. Here are the details of all the notable changes…

Installer

The Ubuntu installer is now based on the hardware enablement (HWE) kernel for all supported platforms (Focal, Jammy and Noble). This allows it to support all the newest hardware.

apt component

The LCFG apt component has gained a keep_current_kernel resource for configuring the apteryx Keep Current Kernel option. This makes it easier to enable/disable as required. In particular, it is now much easier to disable the retention of the packages for the running kernel in the install/installbase contexts. Note that this feature is currently only enabled by default on Noble.

nvidia

Support for the 570 series has been added to all Ubuntu platforms and it is now the default version.
