Weekly Changes – 27/01/2025

A quieter week with the Ubuntu Noble platform now stabilising nicely. There’s an important fix to the installer for sites which use DHCP for all their systems. Here are the details of all the notable changes…

Installer

It is now possible to use the LCFG installer for systems that get their network configuration from DHCP. Previously, it would fail due to issues with the /etc/resolv.conf file.

Systemd

There is a minor improvement to the handling of extra configs which are used to override parts of a unit configuration. It is now possible to specify the filename to be used with the extrafile_<tag> resource (it defaults to being based on the name of the resource tag). This resolves bug#1361.

apacheconf

There is a fix for the default value of the apacheconf.modules resource. The order in which the list of apache modules is specified is significant as some modules expect others to be loaded first. In particular:

  • deflate: depends on filter
  • auth_basic: depends on authn_core
  • auth[nz]_*: depends on auth[nz]_core

rsyslog

For those with apparmor enabled, there is a fix to the profile for rsyslog to allow the use of the imjournal module for importing logs from journald.

nut2 component

The schema for the LCFG nut2 component (used for configuring the nut UPS monitoring services) is now available for all sites.

EL7

Although EL7 is no longer a supported platform, we have fixed a few small issues in the LCFG headers which have crept in recently due to work on the Ubuntu Noble platform.

viewvc

The latest, unreleased version of viewvc has been packaged. This provides support for running the subversion web interface using Python 3. There are various updates to the related LCFG component to support new options and changes to defaults.
