Weekly Changes – 09/09/2024

Everyone with multi-disk systems will be pleased to see that the changes for this week include a major update for the fstab component. Here are the details of all the notable changes…

fstab component

This week sees the introduction of a major update to the LCFG fstab component. The full details of the new features are in this blog article. Most importantly, this should resolve issues with selecting the correct disk at install time and having partitions always mounted correctly on subsequent boots.

The version of the FAI setup-storage tool has also been updated to the latest from upstream, this introduces some new dependencies.

Kernel

The Ubuntu INF_TEST kernel series has been updated to 5.15.0-119.129.

On Jammy the HWE kernel now defaults to the 6.8.0 series.

nvidia

On Ubuntu the nvidia driver now defaults to the 550 series.

microcode

The intel and amd microcode package updates only take effect after the next reboot so those packages are now marked with a :r flag to indicate that a reboot is required. If the LCFG autoreboot component is installed and active this will result in the system being automatically updated whenever there are new microcode updates
