Weekly Changes – 01/05/2023

A fairly quiet week for header and package list changes but a lot has been going on behind the scenes with switching to a new Ubuntu-based package server. Here are the details for all the significant changes…

Ubuntu Jammy

Details of recent progress on the Ubuntu Jammy platform are now recorded separately, see the latest report.

openafs

openafs version 1.8.9 is now available for all platforms and will become the default version for all Informatics systems this week. See the release notes for full details of the changes.

PostgreSQL

Some, previously overlooked, package updates have been applied for version 14 and 15 on Ubuntu.

OpenJDK

Some updates have been applied for the old unsupported OpenJDK 14. Note that these packages are no longer available from the upstream Ubuntu Focal repository.

Software

There are some new software options available for Ubuntu:

  • LCFG_OPTIONS_SNMP_TOOLS – Various snmp applications
  • LCFG_OPTIONS_SNMPD – snmp daemon
  • LCFG_OPTIONS_SNMPTRAPD – snmptrap daemon
  • LCFG_OPTIONS_HWLOC – Hierarchical view of the machine – utilities

Some other options have been tweaked to use the new LCFG_OPTIONS_HWLOC option and the SNMP package options have been used to include the relevant packages for a few headers.

Changes to headers and package lists

Members of the Informatics Computing team can browse all the changes to the headers and package lists.
